(Toledo, OH) City Council voted this week to spend grant cash but it may not leave the mayors desk.
In an 8-4 vote, the council approved 200-thousand in funds to the Family House, YWCA domestic violence shelter, Nexus Health Care, and Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union.
The funds would come out of a pot of federal CDBG funds from last year's unused money.
Although the funds are not from the General Fund, Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz may veto the spending anyway.
Council member Rob Ludeman voted against the spending saying that people need to understand the city is not a bank.
