Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley defended the concept of American socialism from President Trump’s scathing critique this week; saying liberal policies are simply seeking to “increase the living standard of our seniors.”
Merkley was speaking with CNN’s Erin Burnett when she asked the left-wing legislator to comment on President Trump’s State of the Union address where he claimed America “will never be a socialist” country.
“Well, it is a society coming together to increase the standard of living of our seniors, and that is pretty much the definition.
