President Trump is expected to sign an executive order at the White House today regarding social media outlets and the perceived bias toward conservative voices some see in Twitter and Facebook. Trump once claimed executive orders were the last resort for Presidents who couldn't get anything accomplished. "I want to not use too many executive orders, folks. … Obama, because he couldn’t get anybody to agree with him, he starts signing them like they’re butter. So I want to do away with executive orders for the most part."
There is no information at all on what this new executive order may contain, but legal experts are agreed there isn't much the President can do about any bias he sees in Twitter or Facebook as they are opt in services. No one is being forced to use them and if they disagree with what is being said they can opt out.
“Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices. We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen,” Trump said in a pair of additional posts on Twitter on Wednesday.
The President himself has 80 million plus followers on his Twitter account.
