Tuesday Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont suffered chest pains and had to be taken to the hospital. The doctors determined Sanders, a Democratic contender for the nomination, had a blockage in at least one artery and stents were inserted. This is a procedure done thousands of times a day in this country for people suffering with different degrees of blockage and often they are back on their feet within days.
Because of Sanders' age however and the grueling pace of the campaign trail there are questions about his viability as a candidate for President now. Sanders is 78 years old but three of the candidates and the President are over the age of 70 so it isn't just his age that comes into question. His spokespeople have cleared his schedule for the foreseeable future and there is doubt that he will be able to attend the next Democratic debate on Oct. 15th.
