The United States has sent the Abraham Lincoln carrier task force to the area near the Straits of Hormuz as tension builds around Iran and its' surrounding neighbors. There has been some evidence of troop buildup also and a dusting off of contingency war plans. The State Department has called for non emergency diplomatic personnel to leave Iraq in the midst of building tensions and what the White House says is potential targeting of U.S. forces, allies and interests by Iranian security forces or their proxies.
