Toledo city councilperson Tiffany Preston Whitman doesn't believe parents are smart enough to make good choices when ordering in local restaurants for their children so she wants to help. Whitman is proposing the city pass what's called a default beverage ordinance. The idea behind the law, which has passed in other cities, is to force restaurants to limit drinks presented on kid's menus to healthy options like low-fat milk, water, or 100% juice. According to Ms Whitman the city needs "to build a culture of health" and this law would aid that.
