Ohio Apartment Complex Will Make You Move Your Car If It's Ugly

There’s an apartment complex in southern Ohio that will tow your car if they don’t like your paint job.

The policy also applies to rust, dents, flat tires and other problems.

Notices state that the vehicles will be towed if they’re not moved within 24 hours. The drivers of those vehicles told Local 12 it’s “a huge slap in the face.”

The law allows for cars to be towed as long as the policy is clearly stated at the apartment complex. But some see it as “discrimination.”

"Basically, I just ran into the apartment to drop off a few boxes, came back out with a sticker on my car saying that my car did not meet their high standards," Dennis Day explained to the station, referencing his 2001 Honda. He got the notice on his windshield after visiting a friend at the complex.

Montana Valley Apartments issues notices daily and tows a few vehicles per week, according to Local 12.

Officials of the apartment complex explained to Local 12 that the vehicles on their property can’t have any of those unsightly issues (rust, etc.). Management told the station, when a reporter asked what happens if the driver can’t afford to fix the problems, that they “understand the policy is not for everyone.”
