A memorial and funeral service will be held at John F. Savage Arena on the campus of the University of Toledo on Tuesday for Officer Anthony Dia who was killed while on duty early Saturday morning while responding to a call at Home Depot on Alexis Rd. Officer Dia joined the force in 2018 and is the first Toledo officer to lose his life while in the line of duty since the loss of Officer Keith Dressel in 2007.
The memorial event will be limited to the Dia Family, their Faith-Based community, Police Officers, and Fire Personnel. The family has asked that the burial service be private. Local television stations may be live streaming the memorial service, details are pending.
The ceremony and memorial service is scheduled to start at 10 A.M. followed by a burial procession at noon to Officer Dia's final resting place at Toledo Memorial Cemetery on Monroe Street in Sylvania.
