Coronavirus Update - Wednesday March 18 6am

As of 6a Wednesday morning the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is investigating a possible second case of the coronavirus in the county. The person in question had business in the Domestic Relations Court Building. As a precaution that building will be closed to the public on Wednesday for complete sanitation. The only business will be hearings already scheduled. If you were in the building on March 11 you are being asked to monitor yourself for symptoms — including fever over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, dry cough, and shortness of breath , to the health department.

Meanwhile Governor DeWine has ordered a stop to elective surgery as of 5p today. The Governor believes this will free up needed bed space, supplies, and give care givers needed rest to deal with the overwhelming cases that DeWine believes are still coming. State officials have confirmed 67 coronavirus cases in 16 Ohio counties,

Nationally-In Nevada, Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered the statewide shutdown of all casinos and other nonessential businesses starting noon Wednesday.

The state’s latest coronavirus containment effort will apply to all bars, gyms, beauty salons, barber shops, malls and restaurants that do not provide takeout and delivery services. 

Sisolak said in a Tuesday press conference that casinos and hotels will be given time to remove their guests before closing for 30 days. Retail malls and stores will also be mothballed for a month. Gaming machines are to be emptied and shut down by midnight.
