Seven Lucas County Jail corrections officers are either on suspension or off the job following a months long investigation by the Sheriff's Department. A lieutenant and a sergeant have been fired, a second sergeant was allowed to retire, one corrections officer was fired, two others were given 70-day unpaid suspensions, and another resigned in advance of a disciplinary hearing.
According to Det. Rob Sarahman "There were pictures, there were texts that were being sent in between like a group text—very inappropriate, sexual in nature."
Retiring Sheriff John Tharp called the incidents unacceptable and unjustifiable.
