Fire crews from Northwest Ohio responded to a fire at Metal X, a scrapyard, in Delta yesterday afternoon just six months after a previous fire. Delta fire crews were first to respond and led the fire fighting efforts which lasted hours. This fire was a little easier to fight according to Chief Scott Smith due to an action plan put in place since the last fire in September. Responding crews also were now familiar with the layout of the yard and were able to respond more quickly to where the fire was. Employees at Metal X were also instrumental in helping to keep the fire contained. There were no injuries reported but students at Pike Delta York schools were kept inside the buildings until afternoon dismissal.
