TOLEDO, Ohio - Several senior centers in the area have announced they will be opening as cooling centers ahead of this week's expected heat wave.
WTOL 11 reports that the J. Frank Troy Senior Center, at 545 Indiana, and the Sylvania Senior Center, at 7140 Sylvania Ave., will open as emergency cooling centers on Thursday and Friday.
Both centers will open at 8 a.m. both days with the Troy Senior Center staying open until 7 p.m. and the Sylvania Senior Center staying open until 5 p.m.
The Area Office on Aging says all of their centers will be available as cooling centers during normal hours on Friday and the Office is working on opening emergency cooling stations on Saturday.
The Wood County Committee on Aging says the Wood County Senior Center in Bowling Green will be open extended hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Center at 305 N. Main St. will stay open until 8 p.m. all three days.
