St. Vincent Nurses Reject Contract Proposal

TOLEDO, Ohio - Nurses at St. Vincent Medical Center voted Tuesday night to reject a contract proposal from Mercy Health.

WTOL 11 reports the nurses turned down the proposal, with 57% voting against it.

The nurses' returned to work last week after a tentative agreement was announce following a nearly 40 day strike. They will continue to work while Mercy Health and the UAW continue negotiations.

Nurses said their issues had not been adequately addressed in the new contract. They walked off the job in May because of disagreements over on-call hours and healthcare benefits.

Should the nurses decide to return to the picket line, they would have to give 10-days notice.
