Area Universities Cancel Classes Due To Extreme Cold

TOLEDO, Ohio - Several area colleges and universities are cancelling classes ahead of expected extreme temperatures.

The University of Toledo is cancelling all classes for Wednesday and Thursday at both the Main Campus and the Health Science Campus. University operations will continue as normal and employees should report to work or request vacation time from the supervisor. Transportation services will also be limited. Bowling Green State University has cancelled classes for Wednesday at the main campus, BGSU Firelands and at the Levis Commons location. University offices will remain open, as will the Jerome Library and Student Recreation Center with reduced hours. The school says a decision about Thursday classes will be made as the weather develops. Updates can be found at bgsu.edu/weather .

Owens Community College is also cancelling classes on Wednesday and Thursday. The Toledo-area and Findlay-area campus, as well as the Learning Center Downtown will be closed Wednesday for students and staff. The campuses will re-open for staff on Thursday, but all locations will be closed for students. The Findlay-area Campus Childcare Center will be delayed and will open at 11 a.m.

Lourdes University is closing their campus for Wednesday and Thursday. Campus will close at 10pm Tuesday night and will re-open on Friday morning. Resident life, security facilities and maintenance staff should report to work.
