(Columbus, OH) The Columbus Dispatch endorsed Democrat Richard Cordray in the race to be Ohio’s next governor in a Sunday editorial.
Since 1962, The Dispatch has endorsed only one Democrat in the 56 year span.
The newspaper said that Ohio faces significant challenges and the Republican-controlled Ohio General Assembly and governor’s office is “ineffective in moving the state forward.”
Ted Strickland won the Dispatch endorsement in 2006 and went on to defeat Republican J. Kenneth Blackwell for the seat previously held by Bob Taft.
