Ohio's Republican Governor to Close Gun Loopholes

(Columbus, OH)  Ohio Governor John Kasich signed two executive orders aimed at closing gun-buying loopholes.

Governor Kasich took action on Monday to start applying recommendations of a working group he brought together in in April to improve the background checks system for guns.

He signed an executive order on April 23, 2018.

The 39-page report parses the compliance system in Ohio and how it dovetails to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

Anybody buying a firearm must undergo a background check to make sure they are not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a firearm.

Kasich insists the executive order and a companion set of bills ("HB585"/"SB288") will become law.
