(Toledo, OH) The University of Toledo president and the mayor kick off Rocket Week today.
UT President Sharon Gaber and Toledo Mayor Wade Kapsukiewicz will issue a proclamation and raise a university flag outside One Government Center this morning to officially kick off Rocket Week, a set of activities to welcome students back to campus for the fall semester.
The UT president then will join two university vice presidents to help students unpack their belongings and move into the newly-renovated Parks Tower, which reopened after a $12 million upgrade.
There is a paint party tonight, a slip-and-slide Sayurday morning and a bonfire that night, then UT's annual convocation ceremony Sunday afternoon at the Glass Bowl. That's when President Gaber officially greets new students and talks about what it means to be a UT Rocket.
