A national Epipen shortage remains unresolved as kids head back to school. It's an issue that affects nearly 6,000,000 children or about 2 in every classroom. A recent Food Allergy & Research Education survey shows 8 out of 10 people said they couldn't fill prescriptions for life-saving epinephrine. FARE says if you're affected by the shortfall, visit healthmart.com to find an independent pharmacy that might have Epipens in stock or ask your doctor to prescribe a different brand. In an emergency, FARE recommends using your expired auto injector, if it's all you have, and then call 911 to get followup treatment.
