(Monclova Twp., OH) A major traffic change happens this week in Monclova Township.
The busy intersection of U.S. 20A and Weckerly Road will become a four-way stop effective Wednesday morning. There are message boards posted near the high-traffic intersection to warn of the change for safety reasons.
An ODOT traffic studey revealed nearly two-dozen crashes there over the last five years, almost all of them "angle crashes."
The four-way stop is a temporary measure until a roundabout can be designed and installed at the intersection as a long-term safety improvement. ODOT engineers contend that roundabouts reduce the number and severity of crashes, while keeping traffic flowing.
