(Toledo, OH) Toledo Public Schools plan to put two levies on the November ballot.
One is a ten-year levy, while the other runs five-years. But the funding is more than 12 mills combined. TPS officials emphasize both are renewals, so Toledo voters won't see a tax increase.
The levies combine to fund day-to-day operations in the school district, along with more than 30 career-tech options and 200 internship programs. A long-term TPS transformation plan is still in process, and this year meant the conversion of a leadership academy into a business-themed school, along with extensive renovations to the Aviation Center at Toledo Express Airport and improvements to the Natural Science Center near Toledo Botanical Gardens.
If both levies are approved, TPS won't go to voters again until 2022.
