(Toledo, OH) There's an opioid forum at the University of Toledo tonight-- with a twist.
A Toledo mom will give her perspective on the opioid epidemic after living through her daughter's heroin overdose death last year. That mom reacted by going public with her daughter's drug problem, forming the 14-hundred member Facebook group "Not in Vain."
Lucas County Sheriff John Tharp and the Drug Abuse Response Team wialso will give an interactive presentation. The DART team gets opiate addicts directly into treatment instead of sending them to jail.
The Junior League of Toledo is sponsoring the forum, which starts at 6 p.m. in theOak Room at U-T's Student Recreation Center.
