(Toledo, OH) The Port of Toledo may soon get a bit busier.
Ironhead Marine is getting an $800,000 federal grant to buy a new 150-ton off-road crane that will increase efficiency at the Toledo shipyard. The increased capacity could make the shipyard even busier with international and lake freighters, with the ability to more quickly load and off-load cargo.
The Toledo Shipyard also got two new cranes through the federal stimulus package several years ago, speeding up its ability to move cargo in and out of port.
This grant comes from the federal Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration. The port of Toledo is the largest land-mass port on the Great Lakes.
