New Security Measures for Ohio Driver's Licenses

(Columbus, OH) Big changes to getting your Ohio driver's license start today.

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles will start offering driver's licenses that comply with new federal security regulations today. But that means your new license won't be printed at a local BMV office.

Instead, you'll get a temporary I.D. card and your new driver's license will be mailed to you-- and that will take about ten days.

Starting in October 2020, your current driver's license won't be enough to go through screening procedures on commercial flights in the U.S. because of those new federal security standards.
