Regional Water Effort Re-forming with New Partners

(Perrysburg, OH) A regional water group could take on partners different than the original Toledo Area Water Authority.

Perrysburg city council will decide next month whether to join a group of communities drilling test wells to see if an aquifer is the right drinking water source.

Artesian of Pioneer would drill a series of test wells, then pump the ground water for 72 hours, while pulling data from the aquifer for a full-blown water quality analysis.

Henry County, Maumee, Liberty Center, Whitehouse and Sylvania already look like they'll join the effort. Fulton County, Lucas County, and the Northwestern Water and Sewer District are still considering their options, according to Perrysburg officials.

Those communities would share in the six-figure cost of the testing and analysis-- which could eventually cut Toledo out of a new regional water district.
