Toledo officials are encouraging all golden-agers to go to senior centers during the heat. The Area Office on Aging will extending the hours of its emergency cooling centers. Officials also say the Franklin Park Mall is a good place to take a break from the heat.
The Wood County senior center will be open extended hours this weekend to give golden-agers a cool place to beat the extreme heat. The center will be open until 8 p.m. today, tomorrow, and Sunday, with lunch and dinner served for a donation. Any senior who wants to drop in can take part in games, movies or read books and newspapers provided by the Wood County Committee on Aging.
Senior advocates also are asking people to check on their elderly neighbors during the weekend heat wave.
