(Waterville, OH) After a one-week delay, a major Maumee River bridge is shutting down today for the next 45 days.
The historic Waterville bridge is closing effective today. ODOT delayed the closure by a week so power lines could be moved.
A new $13 million bridge is being built adjacent to the existing span. The intersection on the Wood County side is also being closed, so a roundabout can be built at the junction of state routes 64 and 65.
The bridge connecting Lucas and Wood counties over the Maumee is one of only four remaining truss bridges in the state's highway system.
