(Toledo, OH) A Republican Toledo city council member makes a controversial suggestion about how to handle criminal offenders on electronic monitoring to prevent devices from being removed when committing additional crimes.
During a discussion at Tuesday's city council agenda review meeting, councilman Rob Ludeman suggested micro-chipping defendants instead of using ankle monitors.
Ludeman stated if it's humane enough to micro-chip our pets, he sees no difference with humans. Ludeman made the suggestion during a discussion on a city contract with the Lucas County probation department.
There's been a lot of discussion across Ohio about ankle monitors since a Columbus man was sentenced for the rape, robbery, kidnapping, and murder of former Anthony Wayne high school and Ohio State student Reagan Tokes. Brian Golsby committed those crimes while on an ankle monitor.
