Federal EPA to Host Great Lakes Meeting at UT

(Toledo, OH) The federal EPA is hosting a public meeting tonight on Great Lakes clean-up plans.

The University of Toledo is one of six sites across the Midwest where federal environmental regulators will gather public input on the next phase of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, a long-term plan to reduce toxic pollution like farm fertilizers, invasive species like Asian carp, and other problems that could have an impact on drinking water, the economy, and tourism.

Based on the input given at the Toledo session and others, a five-year plan will be developed and available for public comment this fall.

The meeting runs 6 to 8 p.m. at UT’s Law School auditorium.
