Perrysburg Plant to Close in Late 2018

(Perrysburg, OH) A Perrysburg plant will shut down before the end of the year.

The former Hinkle Manufacturing plant in the Ampoint Industrial Park will be mothballed by the end of 2018, costing 70 people their jobs. The factory makes reusable plastic packaging for the auto industry, along with shipping containers for the food and drug industries, cardboard boxes, and packaging foam.

Wisconsin-based Orbis Corporation purchased the company about a month ago to expand its array of products. The sale allowed the company to get a bigger customer base. A Hinkle plant in suburban Detroit also will close.

Orbis will negotiate severance packages with the UAW, which represents both factories. The Perrysburg work likely will be transferred to an Orbis plant in suburban Cleveland.
