New Lucas Co. GOP Chairman Elected

(Toledo, OH) A former state senator is now the leader of the Lucas County Republican party.

Reuniting Republicans and recruiting quality candidates are the first orders of business for long-time Toledo attorney Mark Wagoner, who was elected the new GOP chair over the weekend.

Wagoner recruited enough precinct captains to effectively challenge the ten-year tulmultuous tenure of Jon Stainbrook, whose leadership was marked by controversy, lawsuits, and an ongoing dispute with the Ohio Secretary of State over disruptive actions at the county board of elections.

Following a public meeting at Woodward High School, Wagoner admitted it will take several years to build up the party to the point where the GOP can challenge Democrats in local races.

The immediate focus will be the statewide and county ticket this November.
