Serial Killer Could See Jail Release Today

(Toledo, OH) A confessed Toledo serial killer could be set free today.

Nathaniel Cook is back in a Lucas County courtroom today for a hearing, where a judge could decide whether to set him free. Cook and his brother confessed to a string of rapes and murders and served a 20-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal. His brother is serving two life sentences.

Cook's attorneys say the plea agreement forces the court to order his release this year. But what form that would take and what restrictions may be put in place remain to be seen.

Cook has been ordered to undergo a number of evaluations by the judge, who delayed his release earlier this year to gather more information before making a decision.
