(Columbus, OH) An Ottawa County woman has a big week ahead, as she joins the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.
Even at age 85, Dorothy Gackstetter of GrayTown is still making her mark on the Senior Olympics circuit. Last year-- at age 84-- she won gold medals in the shot put, discus, long jump and both the 100 and 200 meter runs. She's been competing in the Senior Olympics for more than three decades.
Gackstetter also is an accomplished equestrian and shared her love of horses as a 4-H advisor for more than a quarter-century and as a Cub Scout leader for 20 years. She also is well-known as a clothing designer and seamstress making her own original costumes for every event she attends.
The mother of five will attend an induction ceremony this Thursday at the Ohio Statehouse atrium.
