Mayor Kapszukiewicz Proposes New Regional Water Plan

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo's mayor is making an alternative pitch for a regional water authority.

WTOL 11 reports Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz is about to release a new plan that could replace the Toledo Area Water Authority with a new commission that would have a representative from each community that buys water from the city. This commission would set water rates for the system.

Under the mayor's new plan, Toledo would also retain ownership of the Collins Park Water Treatment plant.

City Council would also have final say over water rates that come out of the new commission.

The plan will be presented to surrounding communities on Friday.
