(Toledo, OH) A popular Toledo fundraiser will put a new spin on PB-and-J tonight.
Jam City may sound more like a music festival, but this is a popular fundraiser featuring gourmet peanut-butter-and-jelly dishes. Top Toledo chefs will create fancy dishes inspired by the lunchbox staple-- past entries have included P-B-and-J fudge, a bacon and peanut butter waffle with raspberry jelly, a vegetarian burger with peanut butter jam, peanut butter and jelly Sushi Rolls, and Pulled Pork Peanut Butter Nachos with Bacon and Date Jam.
The fundraiser helps the unusual nonprofit Food for Thought, which has mobile pantries that carry shelf-stable and fresh food choices to those experiencing food insecurity and do not have ready access to a pantry in their neighborhood. Patrons only need to present a photo ID to receive service.
Jam City runs 6 to 9 p.m. at the Toledo Renaissance Hotel downtown.
