An Archbold man wants to convert residential property along Meilke Road into an towing and vehicle storage business on four frontal acres, along with a landscaping business on the back five acres.
There used to be an auto salvage yard on the property that went out business several years ago. But the property is surrounded by other houses and 32 acres of undeveloped land that is also zoned residential.
The Lucas County Plan Commission must approve a zoning change and a special-use permit for the businesses to move forward, but plan commission staff is recommending disapproval because commercial zoning could hurt the character of the neighborhood.
