(Maumee, OH) Maumee and Perrysburg officials are working up a plan to hook into Bowling Green's water system rather than join the Toledo Area Water Authority.
Leaders in those suburbs claim millions of dollars in updates for Toledo's water infrastructure will boost rates for their customers.
Maumee City Council voted Monday night to pay its share of a study that would look at the cost of the two suburbs and the Northwest Water and Sewer District tapping into B-G's system.
One such study already compared such a system with the regional water proposal and came back with comparable rates on a $150 million piping project.
Sylvania and Monroe County are conducting a similar study because concerns about proposals that give Toledo City Council greater control over the water authority instead of shared governance of the nine-city system.
