(Toledo, OH) There's a special effort this weekend targeting drunk drivers across Northwest Ohio.
Circle Toledo is an annual OVI enforcement effort to take drunk and drugged drivers off the region's highways. More than 30 police agencies in Lucas, Wood, Fulton and Monroe counties will take part in the 12-hour OVI blitz with a goal to increase public awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.
The Ohio Highway Patrol is leading the effort, which runs from 6 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. Saturday. There's a kick-off event later today at the Lucas County sheriff's office.
Troopers are hoping people simply call for a ride, stay put, or designate a driver tonight rather than risk getting pulled over by a Circle Toledo officer.
