Lucas County Launches New Recycling Program

(Toledo, OH) Lucas County is launching a new recycling program for hazardous household waste.

Homeowners can now drop off items that pose a hazard at no charge for recycling-- including  paint, cleaning chemicals, car batteries and electronics. But the new recycling program won't accept old TV's, computer monitors, or appliances.

Any other hazardous household material will cost you one dollar per pound, while latex paint will run a buck per gallon and fluorescent light bulbs will cost a dollar apiece. But there's a catch.

You must register a time with the county solid waste district to drop off materials by calling 419-213-2230.
