(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council today will consider a moratorium on drug rehab centers.
The debate over a drug detox facility in the Old West End is prompting the proposed pause in similar new residential rehab locations across Toledo.
The moratorium would last until mid-October, to give city council time to study the effect those drug rehab centers have on neighborhoods-- including traffic congestion, criminal activity, and nearby housing.
Toledo's mayor had to break a six-six tie last week, deciding in favor of Unison Behaviorial Health's conversion of its corporate offices into a new center, citing the need of people to get clean in the community in the midst of the opioid epidemic.
