Toledo Bridge to Get Fancy Relighting Project

(Toledo, OH) The Anthony Wayne bridge is about to brightly light up the night above the Maumee River.

An arts activist has successfully raised the necessary cash for Toledo Alight, a project to put an artistic spin on a $600,000 ODOT relighting project for the High-Level Bridge to complete its renovations.

A Bowling Green artist designed the 85-year old span's new lighting system, which includes an array of multi-colored, light-emitting diodes along  its suspension cables and new floodlights at the base of its towners, along with the retention of the lantern-like lamps atop the towers.

Toledo's mayor will join fund-raisers at a press conference to present ODOT a $300,000 check to pay for the fancier lights. That same BG artist designed a a “Tower of Light” display at ProMedica's new corporate headquarters.

Add in the Veteran's Glass City Skyway lights and leaders say there will soon be a “Nautical Mile” of decorative lighting along the Maumee River downtown.
