Proposed Toledo Rehab Center Drawing Criticism

(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council is being asked to approve a drug and alcohol rehab clinic in the Old West End.

Neighbors are opposed to the idea of a 16-bed recovery center in the 2300 block of Jefferson Avenue, saying there's too many of those facilities already.

Unison Health officials need approval of a zoning change to convert an 1892 home which has served as the agency's office space for the past 35 years.

Unison's chief executive vows to be a good neighbor and cites the need for more treatment beds because of the ongoing opioid epidemic.

There's also more than $500,000 in state and county funding at stake in the effort to give addicts a sober place to stay and get clean.
