(Maumee, OH) Warmer temperatures and rain this week should spark the annual walleye run.
Fishermen in wading boots already can be seen up and down the Maumee River, patiently waiting for female walleye to swim from Lake Erie into the mouth of the river, then find their spawning grounds.
Anglers look forward to this sure sign of spring every year-- and it's big business for Maumee Tackle and other shops. Some anglers spent the weekend putting their boats into the water at launch points in Perrysburg and Maumee, scouting out spots for later this week.
There are rules in place, where you'll see fishermen lined up in the Maumee River from the Ohio Turnpike bridge to the Old Waterville interurban bridge for fishing that's only allowed from sunrise to sunset, with only certain types of fishing hooks allowed.
