NW Ohio Authorities Seeking "Beef Jerky Bandit"

(Wauseon, OH) Northwest Ohio authorities are seeking a scammer now known as the beef jerky bandit.

The latest victim is a Circle K store in Bryan. Police say a male suspect is targeting convenience stores across the region, the scam involving a ploy to return a box of beef jerky. He tells the clerk he's a detective and that he had bought some beef jerky to make care boxes for troops overseas.

But he reports the product is stale or moldy and tries to get a refund, when the suspect picks up the jerky off a store shelf moments earlier.

The beef jerky bandit is described as a clean-cut white male in his 20's. He has also hit stores in Wauseon, Toledo, and Napoleon.
