(Toledo, OH) A controversial Washington Local school board member is reportedly awaiting criminal charges.
The attorney for Patrick Hickey says that the former Washington schools superintendent will be charged in Lenawee County with three counts of criminal sexual conduct.
The charges stem from the reopening of a probe into alleged misconduct when Hickey was teaching and coaching in the Addison Local Schools. A former student-athlete told authorities she and Hickey had sex when she was 14 years old, an incident that goes back decades. But that claim prompted other female basketball players to come forward with similar claims.
Hickey has denied the charges, but intends to turn himself in to authorities to avoid extradition to Michigan.
There's no word on his fate with the school board, where colleagues have publicly called for his resignation. There is a school board meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
