(Columbus, OH) Medical marijuana officially becomes legal in Ohio today.
Today marks 90 days since Governor John Kasich signed the bill into law. Of course, patients with certain conditions won't be able to get legal weed anytime soon-- there's still a lot of work ahead to set up the growing, cultivating, and dispensing system statewide.
But now half the 50 states have legalized medical marijuana. An advisory committee will be appointed within a month.
With the law now in effect, cities and towns can now move to ban medical pot dispensaries or limit the number of them, while employers can continue to enforce drug-testing policies and maintain drug-free workplaces. Licensed cultivators, processors, dispensaries and testing labs won't be allowed to set up shop within 500-feet of schools, churches, public libraries, playgrounds or parks.
