Mayor To Discuss Lake Health With Lawmakers

(Washington, D.C.) Toledo’s mayor hopes to tackle the topic of toxic algae on Capitol Hill.

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapsukiewicz will lead a local delegation to D.C. to speak with members of Ohio’s congressional delegation about ongoing concerns about the health of Lake Erie alongside proposed cuts in funding to Great Lakes cleanup efforts.

The Ohio Environmental Council and the Healing Our Waters coalition will be along for the trip, which coincides with Great Lakes Day being held in the nation’s capital.

The mayor is expected to extend an agenda with the lake as central to the region’s economy, quality of life, and as a safe source of drinking water.
