Main Library To Close For Renovations

(Toledo, OH)  Plans are in the works to renovate the downtown Toledo library.  Toledo Lucas County Public Library officials unveiled the $8.5 million project Tuesday.

Plans call for new and updated technology and improved meeting spaces.  Officials say, however, the library will close in September for construction that will last up to a year.

Library officials say the project would have taken months longer and been more expensive had the renovations occurred while staying open.

Half a million patrons visit the main library branch each year. Library leaders acknowledge there will be an inconvenience to many, but emphasize the renovation is needed for the the main branch to evolve and better fit the needs of the community.
