Washington Local to Beef Up Security Measures

(Toledo, OH) The Washington Local Schools board of education has called a special meeting tonight to talk school security.

The school board is expected to go into closed-door session to talk confidential safety measures being put into place after two incidents involving students.

Juvenile court judges this week decided to hold both students in detention to send a message of zero tolerance in school threats. In one case, a 13-year-old student is accused of stabbing a Washington Local Schools security officer last week at Jefferson Junior High School.

A 16-year old female is charged in another case for threatening to shoot up a school, which led to the closure of Whitmer High School and a pair of junior high schools last Friday.

That meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Conn Weisenberger American Legion post on Alexis Road.
