Black History Month Lecture Focuses on Baseball

(Toledo, OH) Baseball enthusiasts can catch a special Black History Month lesson tonight.

The Toledo History Museum will track the life and legend of Moses "Fleetwood" Walked and Negro Leagues baseball this evening. Walker is credited as the first black baseball player in the major leagues, joining the Toledo Blue Stockings in 1884-- long before history books credit Jackie Robinson for breaking the color barrier.

Baseball historians will give a presentation on that period of baseball and life in America.

The history lesson starts at 6 p.m. in the McMaster Center in the downtown Toledo public library.
