(Toledo, OH) Three schools in the Washington Local School District are closed today, as Toledo police and the FBI are investigating a threat posted on social media.
Whitmer High School, Jefferson Junior High, and Washington Junior High are all shut down for the safety of students and staff. According to a message on Facebook, district offficials say the closings come "due to the seriousness of the threat," which promised a mass shooting at the high school.
The Facebook post credits tips from students and parents about the threat.
A Whitmer student was arrested Thursday when police found four kitchen knives in his backpack. The teen is accused of packing the knives after a social media argument with an ex-girlfriend.
According to a police report, the teen planned to kidnap the girl because she was dating someone new. He's facing several charges including carrying a concealed weapon and a safe school violation.
